Varallo - “P. Calderini” Natural History Museum
Museums
Zona: Medium and low Valsesia
The Pietro Calderini Natural History Museum opened in 1867 with the primary purpose of teaching about science. It contains geological collections, zoological collections of invertebrates and vertebrates, and a botanical section featuring the "Erbario Carestia”. The Archaeological section is very important, with artefacts from ancient Egypt and Etruscan and Roman digs. The Museum is currently on the second floor of the Palazzo dei Musei, and it is organised in its original 19th century layout as it aims to present materials to the younger generations, who can enjoy a dedicated route.
