Alpe Otgnoso and the right side of the Vogna Valley, are among the most beautiful and least known places of the bottom of the Valsesia. Alpe Otgnoso is the true protagonist of this stretch, which opens on overhanging rocks and moss meadows, where it is easy to spot chamois. The alp also enjoys a stunning view: the whole chain of Valsesian Monte Rosa, Corno Bianco, Tagliaferro, the Carnera’s top.
From Church Square, along the roadway in direction of Varallo, after about 250 meters you come to the bridge over the river Vogna. Immediately after the bridge the path n. 208 climbs straight up to Alpe Stella. Arrived to Alpe Stella you need to pay attention because the trail is not very evident. With the huts behind, we head to the left, skirting the larch trees that surround the meadows of the alp, climbing the stony coast between streams and shrubs, taking as a reference point the rocks that indicate the top.
