Borgosesia - Museo di Archeologia e Paleontologia Carlo Conti
Museums
Zona: Medium and low Valsesia
The permanent collection of the Carlo Conti Archaeology and Palaeontology Museum presents a wide variety of artefacts from digs on Monte Fenera and the municipality of Borgosesia: fossils from animals from the Pleistocene epoch, bone fragments attributed to Neanderthals, pre-protohistoric findings and material evidence from Preroman and Roman times, which show how complex and rich the history of this territory is. The museum closes with the findings from the Castle of Vanzone, which are dated from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The museum hosts two permanent exhibitions: one presents research activities carried out at the Grotta della Ciota Ciara, and the other is dedicated to the Valsesia fossil supervolcano.
