Vercelli - MAC Museo Archeologico Civico "Luigi Buzza"

MAC stands for Museo Archeologico Civico (Civic Archaeological Museum) and it was named after the Barnabite priest Luigi Bruzza, an illustrious scholar who dedicated his life to studying the history and archaeology of the Vercelli area. It features a collection of over 600 artefacts and tells the story of ancient Vercellae through a path of seven thematic rooms organised in chronological order.

The exhibition begins with the pre-Roman occupation of the territory, through the illustrations of artefacts from the village belonging to the Libui, a population that spoke a Celtic language and lived in what is now the city centre. The exhibit shows how the Romans took control, how the city gained the status of Municipium, and the crisis of the city during Late Antiquity.
