Set out as a circular route, the educational geological route Cimalegna gives you the opportunity of discovering the geological history of this sector of the Alpine chain. The eight illustrative panels placed along the path (just in summer) give you information about the main rock outcrops and the different types of soil. The route starts at the Passo dei Salati (2,936 m.), near the lift station of Monrosa, and descends to the Scientific Institute A. Mosso near Lake Bowdwitch; follow the route towards the refuges keeping eastwards until reaching Col d'Olen (2,881 m.); from here, the route climbs to the Corno del Camoscio (3,024 m.) from which point you can enjoy the enchanting 360 ° panorama to the southern side of Monte Rosa, across Valsesia and across the Valle di Gressoney. The route then descends towards the north to return to the starting point.
