The land of rice, mountains and centuries-old customs and celebrations. This is the Province of Vercelli: guests will appreciate the many traditions of theWalser people (such as the "Flowered Rosary” procession) and the different religious traditions, including Vercelli’s "Processione delle Macchine” and Quarona’s Via Crucis. The area also offers many lovely patron saint celebrations and several food and wine festivals.
Among the many folkloric events, Carnival holds particular importance. The most important celebrations besides those of Vercelli and Varallo are the Carnevale di Borgosesia, which ends with the characteristic Mercû Scûrot and the Carnevale Storico di Santhià, the oldest celebration of its kind in the entire region of Piedmont.
