The track heads north right out of Borgosesia, at the entrance of via Cravo, a side street of viale Varallo. The first stretch is completely carriageable; it leads beyond the level crossing and along the church of S. Giovanni Battista where it starts to climb uphill without entering the small hamlet. The road comes out in the Deserto region to continue across the Ca’ Raffaele region and then Cartiglia. Leave the road and make for the muletrack which connects to the church of Santa Caterina, heading towards the woods. The muletrack leads also down to Vanzone. The paved road connects to the square of the church dedicated to S. Giacomo. The road leads out of the inhabited area on the left to the first chapel of the Way of the Cross, it then turns left on a paved street along which other chapels stand. After a few bends uphill, one reaches the church of Santa Maria.
